Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products (NVCP) has signed its first local apparel deal in Germany for Nickelodeon’s live action tween show iCarly, with Santex Moden. The two-year deal will see the t-shirts and nightwear line launch in February 2010 across Austria, Germany and Switzerland, and iCarly fans will be able to purchase products primarily from mail order catalogues as well as department stores, mass market retail outlets.
- Portugal
In a two-year deal, NVCP is partnering with Mario J Oliveira & Irmao, Portugal’s #1 board game maker, to produce SpongeBob SquarePants branded puzzles, board games, educational games, soap bubbles and projectors. Products will be available from major local retail outlets including Elcorte Ingles, Sonae, Jeronimo Martins, Auchan Intermarche and Toys R Us.
- Turkey Evergreen properties, SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer, are going down a storm in Turkey with three brand new deals signed with international and local partners:
- A collaboration between NVCP and Dogan Egmont, one of the world’s biggest children’s publishing houses, means that branded books and magazines will be available at all book shops, kiosks, music and toy shops throughout the market. The beloved characters will also appear on children’s apparel, nightwear and underwear following a two-year deal with Panco Giyim San Ticaret. Meanwhile, SpongeBob SquarePants collectable cards will be contained within packs of Bel Karper Gida San’s The Laughing Cow soft cheese and available in stores across Turkey from this Autumn.

- Ahead of this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) which sees the show broadcasting live from its Berlin birthplace and returning to a previous host city for the first time in its 15 year history, MTV Networks International (MTVNI) is announcing several awards show deals:
- Having licensed every show since 1994, TV2 has picked up the EMAs 2009. In addition, based upon the quality of musical talent and even before knowing the location, the Danish public broadcaster has also licensed next year’s 2010 show, along with the 2009 and 2010 MTV Movie Awards (MMAs).
- In a first-ever deal for Rustavi 2, the Georgian channel will air the EMAs 2009 and 2010 while Top Channel in Albania has closed a deal to broadcast the EMAs 2009, plus this year’s US-based awards shows, the MMAs and Video Music Awards. o Deals for the 2009 BET Awards – already aired on Channel 4 in the UK – have been signed with Switzerland’s RSI and RTV in Slovenia.
