VIZ Media Europe Announces Kilari Anime Series To Air On Italia Uno Network, And 15 Licensees

Leading Italian Broadcast Network To Air KILARI, a fun loving cheerful idol heading to the top ! Beginning Today!

VIZ Media Europe (VME), has announced that KILARI animated series will premiere on Italia Uno, one of Italy’s leading broadcast networks, beginning January 11th 2010. Episodes from the first and second season of KILARI will air three times a week as part of the network’s regular animated programming. VME specializes in managing the development, marketing and distribution throughout Europe of Japanese manga (graphic novels) and animated entertainment.

Mediaset/RTI owns and operates Italia Uno and is Italy's leading commercial broadcaster with more than 9.9 million viewers and a total audience share of nearly 40 percent. VIZ Media Europe is the master licensor for the television, home video, Video Game and merchandising rights including Video Game for KILARI in EMEA. Mediaset’s launch of KILARI follows Teletoon French’s broadcast of the series which began on September 08.

Kilari is a happy-go-lucky 14 year old school girl. Unlike her friends, she is more interested in food and shows no interest in good-looking boys. One day, however, she accidentally bumps into Seiji, a pop idol and develops a crush on him at first sight. Realizing how difficult it will be for her to become friends with him , Kilari makes an extraordinary decision: to become a star herself to be close to him!

Mediaset/RTI, the designated licensing agent for Kilari in Italy has signed more than 14 licensees: Caleffi (bed linens), Dolber (confectionery), Dolfin (Chocolate products and confectionery) Edibas (lamincards, 3D figurines, Posters, calendars), Edizioni Playpress (Activity , coloring books), Franzoni (socks, underwear, pyjamas, swimwear), GiEffe Moda (Apparel), Ciga (toys, dolls), Harvest (cosmetics, toiletries), Image (transfer 3D, tatoos), Modecor (cake decors, sparkling juice), Panini (magazines, stickers & albums), Seven (back to school, stationery), Silvano Marini (huts, gloves, scarf), Ventitre (clocks, watches), WorldCart (tissues)

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced the first videogame based on the Kilari license, following Konami’s agreement with VIZ Media Europe. The game, called "Kilari, Na-san, my best friend" - will be a new ‘Life Simulator’ title for Nintendo DS, based on the popular TV series, inspired from the Japanese graphic novel.
