Andy Capp
Andy Capp was created by Reg Smythe and first appeared in The Daily Mirror in 1957. Today the cartoon is the daily creation of the fantastic team of Roger Kettle (writer) and Roger Mahoney (artist). Andy has appeared on dozens of merchandising products over the years and even had his own British TV series in the early 1980's. Andy Capp still appears seven days a week in The Daily and Sunday Mirror and is one the longest running newspaper cartoon strips in the world. Andy Capp is syndicated to over 80 countries, appearing in hundreds of newspapers worldwide, in dozens of languages and is read by an estimated audience of over 200 million people.

Andy Capp is the classic anti-hero, an idler never seen without his trademark cloth cap, whose home life consists of enjoying cups of tea, watching TV and sleeping on the sofa. When Andy does venture outdoors he will usually be found at the pub, visiting the betting shop, dodging the rent collector or enjoying playing a game of one of his favourite sports – football, rugby and cricket.
