The Walt Disney Company announces the launch of a new initiative aimed at encouraging children aged six and under to try their hand at dancing with a fun, easy to learn dance routine inspired by Disney’s Princesses. The specially created Disney Princess Dance is supported by the British Dance Council, and TV star Sinitta will be lending her dance expertise to help launch the initiative.

Disney Princess resonates strongly with girls aged three to six and the British Dance Council has selected a network of dance schools and classes attended by children of these ages. Each participating establishment will receive a Disney Princess pack, including a step-by-step guide to performing the dance. The dance has been created by choreographer and former world champion dancer Lorraine Drolet and the activity will be supported by a national media relations campaign involving Sinitta.

Disney Princess is one of Disney’s most popular franchises and brings together the unique stories of some of Disney’s best loved characters including Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. These stories, along with Disney’s extensive range of products, inspire young girls to imagine and live their very own fairy tales.

Dominic Worsley, Franchise Marketing Director, Disney Consumer Products commented: “The Disney Princesses encapsulate so many elements that young girls enjoy including imagination, dress up and role play. Dance is also a much loved part of many Disney Princess stories and the partnership with the British Dance Council creates another fun way for the magic of these stories to be brought to life.”

Bryan Allen, President of the British Dance Council added: “We’re pleased to be teaming up with Disney to launch the Disney Princess dance – creating new dance steps couldn’t be easier with such a magical cast of characters to provide inspiration. Dance is an ever-popular pastime with children and has been encapsulated so memorably in the Disney films featuring its famous Princesses”.
