International sales and distribution company, ohm:tv, has expanded its reach into Africa, as it celebrates the opening of its fourth sales office in Cape Town. It was announced by Hans Spielthenner and Joris Eckelkamp, ohm:tv’s joint CEO and Co-Founders this week. ohm:tv already has offices in Cologne, Barcelona and Vienna. A key part of ohm:tv’s international expansion, the implementation of the company’s new sales office will focus on creating a thriving business in the Sub Sahara, with specific emphasis on distribution and acquisitions on the South African market. The South African office will distribute ohm:tv’s portfolio to TV channels across the continent, while maintaining the company’s existing co-operation and collaboration with Endemol South Africa, for mobile and online content. In addition to ohm:tv’s diverse format catalogue, the local offering also includes the entire ORF (Austria’s Public Broadcaster) programming, featuring award winning wildlife, nature and science documentaries, as part of ORF’s famous UNIVERSUM brand, as well as TV movies, series, classical music, arts and lifestyle programming. Spearheading operations and managing the office from Cape Town, is, Jani Le Roux, who comes from ohm:tv’s Barcelona office and who will be responsible for all activities within the region. ohm:tv currently boasts an attractive programming portfolio as it distributes programs from a variety of channels as well as independent producers and distributors, amongst them, ORF, RTE, RTL2 and Breakthrough Entertainment. This expansion into the Sub Sahara strengthens the company’s distribution plans in ohm:tv’s key territories, including Spain, Germany, Austria and South Africa.
