Warner Bros. Consumer Products and The LEGO Group Present New Magical Harry Potter Products

Warner Bros. - April 2010

Warner Bros. Consumer Products extend their successful partnership with leading toy manufacturer LEGO to make the exciting world of Harry Potter accessible to fans worldwide. LEGO makes the magic of Harry Potter creatively come alive with fascinating construction kits and board games inspired by Harry Potter. These new LEGO products will definitely ease waiting for the upcoming movie highlights: “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1” sees its theatrical release in November 2010, Part 2 is scheduled for release in 2011.

“We have enjoyed a longstanding, successful partnership with The Lego Group around Harry Potter and we are delighted to continue this relationship as we approach the release of the seventh film”, said Karen McTier vice president of domestic licensing and worldwide marketing at WBCP. “Fans of the franchise will be excited to discover the wonderfully original LEGO products inspired by the beloved stories and characters.”

“The world of Harry Potter has inspired some of our most successful products and we are thrilled to continue creating imaginative play opportunities for fans everywhere,” comments Jill Wilfert, vice president of global licensing at The LEGO Group. “The magical stories brought to life in the films give us the potential for an incredible array of offerings, the best of which are represented in our upcoming lines.”

The new product line based upon the thrilling stories and beloved characters of the Harry Potter films is comprised of six construction kits inspired by legendary locations and sequences, including Hogwarts, Hagrid’s Hut, the Hogwarts Express and the Quidditch Pitch. In addition, LEGO will release supplementary kits to earlier Harry Potter sets that still belong to LEGO’s best-selling items. New sets hit retail shelves in October.

In 2010, LEGO for the first time launch a licensed board game to the market: “Hogwarts” is a high quality construction game and available from August 2010. Players build and then move throughout the iconic castle to be the first to collect various objects and win the game – but even the most skilled players can be foiled as classrooms move around the board.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games also announced the release of LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, the latest addition to the LEGO video games franchise. The game will be available for various gaming platforms and takes players to a magical adventure spanning the first four books and films.
