Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products inked a significant deal with Upper Deck for Spongi

Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products has inked a significant deal with leading Dutch sports and entertainment company, Upper Deck, for SpongeBob SquarePants branded Spongi – a new type of colourful lightweight paste that can be bounced, stretched and moulded to create any shape, and which can be preserved by air-drying.

The pan-European deal covers Benelux, France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Iberia and the UK. The product will launch across specialist and mass-market retailers in the autumn of this year.

Upper Deck launched with its generic Spongi product across Europe in Autumn 2009 to great success and since launch has already sold 500,000 units and gained a market share 8% in Italy. The company has grown from its roots as a trading card manufacturer to become a major licensee across a number of toy, games and collectibles categories.
