NCP signs raft of new back-to-school deals

A raft of new Nickelodeon Consumer Products deals on back-to-school collections is taking Nickelodeon characters into new product categories as well as into new markets.

In a major deal that spans regions from the Baltics to the Middle East, NCP EMEA has signed its first adult stationery deal with leading licensee Stationery Team on arange of bags, accessories and stationery for the MTV brand, using the Streetmuse styleguide. The MTV Streetmuse stationery collection launches across the markets from July via specialist retailers.

In France licensee School Pack has signed a deal on SpongeBob SquarePants that will take the property into a range of product including schoolbags and satchels, schoolbags with wheels, trolleys, backpacks, backpacks with wheels, messenger bags, shoulder bags, pencil cases and tote bags. The deal, which covers France and Belgium, runs through to the end of 2012.

In Italy Nickelodeon Consumer Products (NCP) has signed Copywrite Europe Group to launch the first ever consumer products for Mandarin bi-lingual animation Ni-Hao Kai-Lan in the Italian-speaking markets. The deal covers stationery and back-to-school ranging from school bags and trolleys to wallets, lunch boxes and activity sets.

Pentra has joined the line up of partners for Dora the Explorer product in Poland on a stationery range that includes notebooks, crayons, schoolbags and paints. The deal also covers Latvia and Lithuania.

In a deal covering Spain and Portugal, market-leading licensee Miquel Rius has inked a deal for SpongeBob SquarePants stationery and back to school product aimed at the department store and mass retail sectors.

NCP in the UK has renewed two key deals on SpongeBob SquarePants covering both the children’s and young adult back-to-school and gift markets.

Leading children’s and adult licensed mobile and PC accessories manufacturer Premium Mobile Distribution has renewed its license to produce a collection of mobile socks, cases, mouse and mouse mats, laptop bags and keyboards in a deal that runs to March 2012. Premium has also developed a new range of iPhone cases and BlackBerry cases for SpongeBob SquarePants aimed at older consumers. In addition the licensee has a similar deal covering South Park for the same categories, aimed at adults.

Specialist independent retailer supplier Instant Gifts International has renewed its deal term for two years covering a range of gift products including tins, keyrings, ceramics, pens and bottles aimed at both children and older students.

NCP UK has also renewed a key deal for Dora the Explorer with International Greetings’ Copywrite division for two years following the success the stationery range which was developed using the new Butterfly styleguide. The existing deal included a major three-week promotion with UK supermarket Tesco.
