FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) today announced their line-up for DISCOP 2010 which features successful returning series and franchises as well as new programmes across a wide range of genres – all from a variety of worldwide brands in drama, factual, comedy and entertainment genres. FME will also be taking various new titles from its home entertainment division. FME will be represented at the market by Maximilian Bolenius, VP Sales, German speaking Europe and Eastern Europe, and Richard Tulk-Hart, VP Sales Home Entertainment EMEA. FME will be taking some of the top drama and comedy titles from around the world including the much-anticipated return to Camelot with series three of Merlin (13 x 1 hour) – a programme which FME has sold to more than 52 broadcasters in 180 countries worldwide. After the dramatic events of series two, the third outing of the global phenomenon rejoins Merlin and Arthur as they battle against increasingly deadly magical foes. The DISCOP slate will also include the fourth series of the International EMMY, Rose d’Or and BAFTA Award-winning comedy The IT Crowd (6 x 30 minutes), following the trio of dysfunctional IT consultants. Season three of the award-winning Australian drama Satisfaction (20 x 1 hour) will also be part of the catalogue. FME’s factual titles cover a range of exciting and informing subjects including food, travel, the secrets of an ancient empire, a return to oil drilling in Texas, and more unusual deaths. Three new Jamie Oliver titles are part of the slate: Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution (6 x 1 hour) is the much publicised series which finds the famous British chef in the United States campaigning to change the way that America eats; Jamie’s Food Escapes (6 x 1hour) follows the chef on his journey throughout Europe and the Mediterranean, discovering culinary differences which inspire fresh new recipes in each show; Jamie’s Family Christmas (5 x 30 minutes) offers cooking tips for a stress-free Christmas in a series filmed at his home with his family and friends. FME has represented Jamie Oliver programming internationally since 2002. Jamie's programmes are broadcast in more than 140 countries and translated into over 30 languages. Rome’s greatest mysteries are revealed in Rome Unwrapped (8 x 1 hour), the Atlantic Productions series which follows the success of their previous exploration into the wonders and icons of Egypt. This major series combines the latest research and techniques, special access to excavations, and state of the art CGI to look at the events that defined the Empire and reveal the personal stories of its people. The DISCOP slate also includes two returning series from Thom Beers’ Original Productions: series three of the hugely successful Black Gold (13 x 1 hour) continues to tell the stories of blue-collar heroism in the world of oil prospecting; series two of 1000 Ways to Die (12 x 30 minutes) sees the return of this fun and fascinating title which looks at even more surprising, unusual and bizarre ways in which individuals have met their ends. Other titles in FME’s catalogue include cookery programmes The Delicious Miss Dahl (6 x 30 minutes) and Annabel Langbein: Free Range Cook (13 x 30 minutes), factual entertainment show Kirstie Alley’s Big Life (10 x 30 minutes) – an amusing reality series following the actress and her life - and wildlife doc series Nigel Marven’s Panda Adventure (5 x 1 hour). FME’s home entertainment division will also be debuting various new titles at DISCOP in addition to returning favourites Merlin, The IT Crowd and Jamie’s Food Escapes. The first of these is brand new DVD title Greatest Boxer Ever (10 x 1 hour), which investigates the world’s best boxers in various weight classes. Muhammad Ali was the self-proclaimed Greatest, but was it really Ali or Joe Louis, Sugar Ray Robinson, Willie Pep, Henry Armstrong or perhaps a modern day boxer like Joe Calzaghe, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. or Manny Pacquiao? Find out in this special series who ultimately is the Greatest Boxer Ever. Also in the catalogue is the Emmy Award-nominated Elvis (1 x 180 minutes), a TV biopic from 1979 starring Kurt Russell as the famous rock ‘n’ roll singer. This is the first time that this title will be made available for the home entertainment market in Eastern Europe. The World at War is the definitive account of World War Two, and an award-winning landmark of factual programming. The iconic series has been re-mastered and FME are re-releasing it to global audiences for the first time on Blu-ray, as well as on DVD. Mel Alcock, CEO, EMEA, FME commented, “FME has a fantastic slate of broadcast and home entertainment titles for buyers this year. There are some big returning titles, which are now in their second or third series and still proving a great hit with audiences, along with a range of new factual and entertainment programmes in our catalogue. Our expertise in content across all genres is reflected in the range and quality of programming that we have on offer - there is something for everyone.” FME will be based at Suite 121, Sofitel Atrium Hotel, Roosevelt Terrace 2, 1051 Budapest from 23rd to 25th June. |
