Target Entertainment Group has appointed award-winning agency The Revolution as the licensing sub-agent for the PlayStation® brand and selected PlayStation® software IPs (intellectual properties) for the following territories: Republic of South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya, Seychelles, Comores, Mauritius, Mozambique, Swaziland and Botswana. The appointment will see The Revolution manage a merchandise programme spanning all consumer product categories excluding PlayStation peripherals and PlayStation specific accessories. The PlayStation brand incorporates the PlayStation logo, the format logos: PS one®, PlayStation®2 (PS2™), PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) and PlayStation®3 (PS3™), DUALSHOCK®3 wireless controller designs and well know PlayStation symbols and phrases like ‘The Game is Just the Start’. The PlayStation IPs licensed to The Revolution are LittleBigPlanet™, God of War®, Ratchet and Clank®, Wipeout™, EyePet™ and Invizimals™. Richard Woolf, director of licensing at Target Entertainment Group said: “It’s great news we have secured an agency of Revolution’s calibre to represent the PlayStation brand and IPs across the Southern African content. Given their track record we have every confidence of a successful licensing programme.” Alan Radmall, CEO of Revolution, added: "The Revolution is proud to add the PlayStation brand and PlayStation’s software IPs to our portfolio of leading global intellectual properties. PlayStation is an integral part of youth and the young-at-heart culture, which makes up one of today’s most important consumer segments. When the release of a new game in Europe can, in a week, generate more revenue than a leading movie in two months, we must acknowledge the impact PlayStation can have in the market. We will soon be presenting the licensing opportunities to Southern African retailers and manufacturers and helping them develop licensing strategies that will help increase their sales and add value to their consumer offer.” |
