Syco and FremantleMedia Enterprises Launch The X Factor Magazine

Fremantle Licensing Germany - July 2010

FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) and Syco Entertainment today announced the launch of a new magazine under The X Factor brand in the UK. The magazine will be published by Haymarket Network.

The magazine will have a unique and competitive position in the UK market as the only women’s weekly that loves music and celebrates pop as one of the UK’s most vibrant music genres. From the nation’s most authoritative entertainment brand, it will feature international music stars from across the industry and give readers behind-the-scenes access to the hit TV show, with fashion and beauty features, celebrity news and gossip.

Launching in September 2010 to coincide with the beginning of season seven, the magazine will be exclusively available at Tesco for the launch period and thereafter on sale nationwide across a breadth of retailers. With auditions taking place every summer, the show being on air from August to December, the Live Tour taking place throughout each spring, the US version launching in 2011, and great music stories breaking all the time, The X Factor magazine will appeal to fans all year round.

Distribution will be managed by Frontline, the UK’s biggest magazine distributor

Dominic Burns, SVP Licensing UK for FME said, “The X Factor is the number 1 pop music brand in the UK. Not only does the show produce new stars such as Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, Joe McElderry, JLS and Diana Vickers but the show has become a platform for some of the world's biggest artists to perform: Lady GaGa, The Black Eyed Peas, Paul McCartney and George Michael all graced the stage of the live shows last series. There is a gap in the market for a magazine that celebrates the world of pop and provides an in-depth insight into the world of The X Factor. We’re looking forward to its launch and delivering something new to fans.”

Andrew Taplin, MD Haymarket Network said, “The women’s weekly category is very vibrant at the moment and the launch of this magazine will provide it a further significant boost. We’ve been working closely with FremantleMedia Enterprises and Syco for a number of months now, and together with them and Frontline, our news trade distribution partner, have developed a really compelling proposition”.
