Unique Co-Branded Licensing Agreement with Junk Food Clothing and NBA

Leading family entertainment producer and distributor Chorion has signed a deal with the National Basketball Association (NBA) and Junk Food Clothing Company to launch co-branded NBA Mr. Men and Little Miss apparel starring Little Miss Sunshine in retail outlets across the U.S. for the start of the 2010-11 NBA season.

Building on the success of Mr. Men and Little Miss apparel and its trend appeal, the new collection highlights the NBA’s appeal to fashion-conscious young adults, drawing on the fun and popularity of the classic Mr. Men and Little Miss characters. The distinctive characters and logos will be cross-licensed with NBA team logos on apparel for juniors, women and men. The fashionable new lines will include knit tops and T-shirts. The collection will make its debut at the Magic trade show this August, and will be available at the NBA Store in New York, NBAStore.com, arenas, department stores, online retailers and boutiques in late fall 2010.

Steve Cipolla, EVP Global Licensing & Sales, at Chorion, says, “The unique blend of self-expression, humor and fashion that Mr. Men and Little Miss characters bring to the NBA and its fans are sure to be a winning combination. The popularity and fashion appeal of Little Miss Sunshine and Mr. Happy sit perfectly alongside the NBA team logos and we’re delighted with the first-class designs that Junk Food, a lead licensee for the Mr. Men and Little Miss brand, are developing.”

“Junk Food is thrilled to be a part of this fun and exciting collaboration of Mr. Men and Little Miss with the NBA”, says Sam Watson, President of Junk Food Clothing. “Both are wonderful licensing partners whose properties fit perfectly with Junk Food’s vintage, retro-inspired apparel. We are excited to launch this new line at the upcoming August Magic show in Las Vegas, which will provide trendsetting, young adult fans with an expanded Junk Food offering of apparel product.”

“Integrating Mr. Men and Little Miss characters with the NBA’s world-class branding will make for a playful and unique offering to our diverse fan base,” adds NBA Senior Director of Apparel, Footwear and Accessory Licensing, Lisa Piken. “This new assortment is a great addition to our already established collection of co-branded merchandise.”
