Multiple Apps targeted for Dennis, Gnasher and Co!

The iconic characters of the Beano such as Dennis the Menace, Roger the Dodger, Minnie the Minx, The Bash Street Kids, Ivy the Terrible and Billy Whizz that have become known to generations of British children are to be re-invigorated with complimentary Smartphone content and games via a strategic project under development between AT New Media and DC Thomson.

The “Beano” App concepts, for which development and publishing partners are now sought, are for anyone who loves the humour and excitement that emanates from this brilliant and iconic brand.

Interest is welcomed for anything from Quirky Apps, to Games, through to Comic concepts, all of which will be reviewed on their individual merits by DC Thomson with the support of AT New Media.

Tim Collins, Commercial Manager at DC Thomson said, “The Beano is Britain’s comic – we have four generations of fans, and arguably the Beano’s best known character Dennis will be 60 next year. We are launching a new digital Beano platform later this year which complements existing activity across TV with the BBC as well as new merchandise for kids and adult fans. With an archive going back to 1938 there is no shortage of content and we look forward to working with companies who can develop really laugh out loud fun apps for all ages.”

Simon Kay, Business Development Director of AT New Media and Manager of the AT Brands division says, “What has not already been said about the Beano that you don’t know. The characters are perfect for multiple App concepts and we are looking forward to discussing this opportunity with the market in the coming weeks and months. With multiple generations attaching themselves to the App World and technology that now exists, this brand has a ready audience.”
