Ultra kawaii!
It is time for a new decade, and a new super-cat phenomenon! According to Cosmopolitan, the fashion and lifestyle bible, Angel Cat Sugar - from the original creator of Hello Kitty – is the new character to take kitsch fashion by storm. The online version of the popular magazine explains that the kooky Japanese brand has exploded world-wide and is now sold in more than 15 countries including the UK. Another UK website, So Darling, announces that Angel Cat Sugar is set to be the next ultra kawaii (that’s ‘cute’ in Japanese) pop culture icon from the Land of the Rising Sun to take their shores – and stores – by storm. To quote them directly: “If the ridiculous cuteness of Angel Cat Sugar isn’t enough to make your heart melt then her back story definitely will; Angel Cat Sugar is the princess of the Angel world. She is very shy but has three angel mice, Thyme, Parsley and Basil, to help her out.” They have already identified that this cute character isn’t just attractive to children - if anything she brings the kid out in us jaded adults! Her celebrity fans already include the likes of Fearne Cotton, Pixie Lott, Claudia Schiffer, Geri Halliwell, Tess Daly and Dannii Minogue to name just a few.

Monster Jam – Events are back in The Netherlands

With less than 100 days to come the monster trucks are back to shine during the Monster Jam event on September 25 and 26. During this edition you can see and hear(!) the following trucks: Grave Digger, El Toro Loco, Monster Mutt Dalmatian, Ironman, Captain’s Curse, Mohawk Warrior, Nitro Circus, Taz, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Disney XD and two European stars Thor and Swamp Thing. Outside the stadium, fans can buy products of their favourite truck and driver. Come and join this extremely cool event for boys…and yes, papas like the show as well!

Special retail deal for Wooly

As of week 25 Wooly will be sold in more than 129 stores of Trekpleister in The Netherlands and 165 stores of Kruidvat in Belgium. Both are very popular drugstores in these territories. A special series of books called “Blauwe boekjes” (ENG: Blue books) will be released in these stores; one of the stars of these series is our own Wooly. The retail chain has ordered thousands of copies of the book “Wooly – een wolk van een vriendje” (ENG: Wooly looking for a friend). This special edition of the book will be in stores for 3 months.

Wooly in stores of HEMA

For some time now retailer HEMA, with 412 stores in The Netherlands, is selling the collection-DVD “De leukste TV vriendjes” (ENG: The favourite TV friends) including an episode of Wooly! The sales have been going so well, that the retail chain has reordered the DVD’s. HEMA is awarded with the Best Retail Chain price in 2008.

Calimero - a little chicken on the move!

In one year time a lot has happened with the little brave chicken, Calimero. Dutch broadcaster TROS is broadcasting the series via the children programme “Z@ppelin” early in the morning on a daily basis and will extend broadcasting the series until October 1st, 2010. Belgian broadcaster VTM is broadcasting the series via their children channel “VtmKzoom” also on a daily basis. Since children don’t only love to see Calimero, but also want to have products of this character the merchandising programme has expanded with the following licensees for the Benelux: The Cookie Company (apparel), RuboToys (plush) and Just4Kids (DVD’s & books). The German based company United Labels has signed the categories of gifts & accessories, plush, home & living and apparel for GAS-countries and Spain.
