Blue Planet Software, Inc., the exclusive licensing agent for Tetris®, one of the world’s most successful video game brands, announced that it has teamed with leading licensing agency LICENSING WORKS!® to launch a new merchandise licensing program which will allow manufacturers and promotional partners to put the Tetris® brand to work for their consumer products. The Tetris brand already stands side by side with many of the world’s most recognized brands through its licensing arrangements with leading interactive, video game, mobile, online and wireless content providers on computing devices of all shapes and sizes - from key-chains to mobile phones to home theatre screens. Tetris brand products are sold worldwide in more than 50 languages. With hundreds of millions of games sold over the last 25 years, the Tetris® brand is stronger than ever and continues its year over year growth. Over 100 million paid mobile downloads have made the Tetris game one of the best selling mobile games in the world. Tetris games released in 2010 have been designed for top consumer favorite brands like Nintendo DS™, Nintendo Wii™, PSP®, Sega®, Xbox Live®, T- Mobile®, Palm™, AT&T™, Verizon™, Sprint™, BlackBerry®, iPhone®, iPad™, iPod touch®, and iPod®. “Our consumer research shows an enormous level of awareness of the Tetris brand among all ages,” said Henk Rogers, President and CEO of Blue Planet Software. “And it shows high emotional attachment not only with Tetris itself but also with key brand elements like fun, well-being, creativity, achievement, and purpose. We are proud to say that our brand awareness is off the charts, and we work very hard at keeping it there.” “We are delighted that LICENSING WORKS!® shares our passion for bringing the Tetris brand to a full spectrum of consumer products,” said Lisa Linnenkohl, head of Licensing for Blue Planet Software. “Leslie Levine has a stellar reputation and having worked with her before, I know why. We will be working closely together to help tailor the Tetris brand for maximum return to each of our new licensees.” The first new licensed products will be announced at upcoming trade shows including the Fall Toy Show in Dallas in October. Recently announced new licensee partners include TechnoSource for tabletop games and Basic Fun for Electronic Key Chains. “We’ve already had tremendous interest in the Tetris brand,” said Leslie Levine, head of LICENSING WORKS!®. “And we’ve only just begun. It’s rare that a long established and beloved worldwide brand becomes newly available to the consumer products environment and we plan to make the most of this opportunity. Tetris is so much more than a logo – it has deep lifestyle attachments and it is equally popular across all age groups. We plan to give it the same brand leadership in consumer products that it already enjoys in the pervasive consumer interactive video game space.” The Tetris® game transcends language and its brightly colored Tetrimino shapes are global icons that are instantly recognizable. Available on nearly every platform, the game can be played anytime or anywhere for a few minutes or hours on end. Blue Planet Software and LICENSING WORKS!® will focus on developing innovative ways of applying new Tetris color and logic systems to consumer products for every lifestyle. Licensees will be able to benefit from the innovative creative resource team that has brought the Tetris brand to life across many interactive venues and who now are excited to bring that same fresh thinking to the new product categories. |
