Retail turnover in Germany in August 2010: +2.2% in real terms to August 2009

According to provisional results of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), retail turnover in August 2010 in Germany increased 3.3% in nominal terms and 2.2% in real terms compared with the corresponding month in the previous year. The number of days open for sale was 26 in August 2010 and 26 in August 2009, too. When adjusted for calendar and seasonal variations (CENSUS-X-12-ARIMA), the August turnover was in nominal terms 0.1% larger and in real terms 0.2% smaller than that in July 2010. Compared with the previous year, turnover in retail trade was in the first eight months of 2010 in nominal terms 2.0% and in real terms 0.9% larger.
