Nickelodeon Consumer Products - October 2010

Deal Signals Renewed Commitment to Partworks Development

In a strategic new move which signals a significant and newly aligned focus on the partworks industry, Nickelodeon Consumer Products (NCP) has announced a major new international partnership with Eaglemoss Publishing Group Ltd. This first-ever deal allows the Eaglemoss Group first option on all Nickelodeon properties with a view to developing partworks and press collections across the globe (ex-US). The three-year deal was announced today at the Frankfurt Book Fair by Paula Allen, Senior Vice President, Global Publishing, NCP.

The partnership covers more than 35 Nickelodeon hit properties from animation targeted at preschoolers such as Dora the Explorer, to tween-targeted live action titles such as iCarly and has the potential to reach all countries around the world across all regions. Distribution will be via kiosks and newsagents.

“This is a significant new direction for NCP which positions us perfectly to take an even greater share of a growing industry estimated to be worth $1bn,” commented Paula Allen. “Eaglemoss’ ability to create innovative partworks is second to none and I’m particularly excited that, in addition to traditionally strong partworks markets including the UK, France and Italy, we’re partnering with a group making inroads into booming new markets such as Russia and Brazil.”

The agreement will see the development of a minimum of four new products per year, of which two will be traditional partworks to take to test. The first product, the Dora the Explorer Little Cooks Collection, is currently testing in the UK. This cooking and picnic collectible set includes exclusive silicon bakeware and a Dora the Explorer plate and cutlery set while the accompanying magazine contains stories, activities and challenges, as well as easy-to-make recipes, all of which have been tested and approved by a nutritionist.

Andrew Jarvis, CEO, Eaglemoss said, “We are absolutely delighted to have signed this agreement with Nickelodeon. Eaglemoss is now a global partwork publisher operating in 34 international markets and we are very excited about the opportunity of launching partworks and collectables from the wonderful portfolio of Nickelodeon properties in many of them”.
