Bluebird Brands set to produce range of Goochicoo-branded products

Bulldog Licensing has announced that licensed goods specialist Bluebird Brands is set to produce a range of products based on hit design led property Goochicoo, after wrapping up a deal during BLE 2010.

Goochicoo is the brainchild of designer Kaely Backland and writer Ged Backland and features a range of fantastic little characters accompanied by slogans such as ‘Give Peas a Chance‘ and ‘Been inside Nine Months‘.

It is envisaged that the new products will include a wide range of merchandise including a ‘my first range…’ that could include boxes for first teeth or locks of hair, as well as Mother’s and Father’s Day mugs, luggage and travel accessories, and car accessories such as sun shades and ‘baby on board’ stickers.

This will add to a strong existing programme that includes melamine by Tommee Tippee, branded bedding by Izziwotnot, and top-selling personalisable greetings cards from Moonpig. Sales on Moonpig have proved so strong that the retailer has selected Goochicoo to appear in their latest multi-million pound TV advertising campaign whilst MV Sports will further boost the brand’s TV exposure courtesy of their own heavyweight advertising for the launch of additional plush lines to join the range of interactive plush dolls that have already proved a hit with consumers. Apparel from Poetic Gem and publishing lines from Little Star are also rolling out into retail now with advanced discussions underway with licensees across a number of categories including inflatables, art sets and juice drinks.

“I took one look at Goochicoo when I got to the show and just knew that we had to be involved,” says Rachel Needs, Brands and Licensing Director at Bluebird Brands, “the property offers a number of possibilities and we can’t wait to get to work turning our ideas into reality!”

“I’m delighted that Bluebird Brands have come on board with Goochicoo,” adds Bulldog MD Rob Corney, “'I've seen some of the great product lines they have developed in the trade coverage and know that they will do a fantastic job with Goochicoo – the lines they will now be developing all sound like great fun so I can’t wait to see the finished products!”
