LIMA UK, part of the worldwide trade organisation for the licensing industry, has burst through the 100 member mark for the first time in five years, demonstrating a steady rise in new members since August. New members will have access to a significant number of benefits including networking and education opportunities, discounts off major events and access to LIMA’s network of international representatives in areas such as Hong Kong, India, Europe and the US. New members who have joined in the last few weeks include Art Ask Agency (Barcelona), Blueprint (Harlow), Chapman Entertainment (London), Global Sports Licensing (London), JCB Consumer Products Ltd. (London), Intelligence and Investigation Services – IP Crime Unit (Cheshire), Sagoo (Paris), Shipley (Liverpool), The Extreme Sports Company (London) and V&S Entertainment Limited (Bucks). JCB Consumer Products, which joined in October, started licensing at the end of 1996 and turnover of its licensing operations is around £90 million. With a strong base in the UK for its toys & kids clothing, DIY and gardening, trade tools, footwear and general merchandising, the company is looking to expand internationally, particularly in the Middle East and into India. John Atkinson, Business Development Director at JCB, comments: “Our vision is to make JCB as well-known as a consumer brand as it is in construction. Joining LIMA means that we will have access to networking opportunities, events, information and support. We will also be able to tap into their international network, particularly in growing markets such as India, which are key to our ambitions.” Kelvyn Gardner, Managing Director of LIMA UK, comments, “As the largest licensing market outside the USA and Japan, our long-term aim is to achieve a membership of 250 so this is really good news. We’re particularly pleased that new members have come from all sides of the industry and also from different product categories as we aim to represent a broad spectrum of licensing. We will be continuing our recruitment work and also continuing to review and expand our benefits package to ensure it is in line with members’ needs.” Anyone wishing to speak to LIMA about membership should contact Saphia Maxamed, Membership Services Manager on +44 1908 802 863 or by emailing: smaxamed@licensing.org. |
