Following an incredibly positive MIPCOM 2010 market in Cannes last week, Classic Media, a global media company with a portfolio of some of the world’s leading family entertainment brands, today announced a broadcast deal for the new animated tween series, My Life Me™, from rising manga star Svetlana Chmakova. KI.KA - Der Kinderkanal, a leading kids television platform in Germany, will debut the series early in 2011 with an ongoing broadcast commitment for the next five years.

Earlier this year, Classic Media acquired the international distribution rights for My Life Me (52 x 11) across all media worldwide, including L&M. The series is produced by Canadian-based CarpeDiem Film & TV and French-based FROG BOX. With backing from broadcasters TELETOON Canada Inc., as well as FranceTelevisions and Canal J, as co-producers, My Life Me will also launch in Canada and France, respectively, over the coming year.

At MIPCOM, My Life Me captured great interest, having already sold well into key territories including: Canada (TELETOON Canada Inc.), France (FranceTelevisions and Canal J ), Asia (Disney), Spain (TV3), Korea (EBS), Norway (NRK), Poland (Canal Plus) and Portugal (Canal Panda).

Co-created by JC Little, Cindy Filipenko and Svetlana Chmakova, who found success with the top-selling Tokyopop comic book hit, “Dramacon,” My Life Me follows the story of four mismatched 13-year olds, struggling through the ups and downs of teen life. Whether they are testing the boundaries of their friendships, trying to find the balance between social and school life, or suffering from increasingly embarrassing parents…the issues facing the My Life Me kids are real!

“We are thrilled to have partnered with such a prestigious platform as KI.KA for My Life Me,” said Chloe van den Berg, EVP, International, Classic Media. “The deal highlights the enthusiasm and momentum behind this new tween series, that will be launched with a fully interactive companion website in place, featuring outrageous out-takes, music videos, and much more.”

“Picking up the trend of animation for the older children’s target group, KI.KA is very happy to have My Life Me in its portfolio,” said Sebastian Debertin, Head of Fiction, Acquisition & Co-Production at KI.KA. “The series combines in an outstanding way a modern anime approach in terms of design with classic story telling. We are convinced this combination will affect our audience, and are looking forward to a successful broadcast.”

“KI.KA’s acquisition of My Life Me further illustrates the universal appeal these stories have for tweens, both in content and in the unique way the series creators’ have found to tell them,” said Marie-Claude Beauchamp, President and Executive Producer, CarpeDiem Film & TV. “We are delighted that KI.KA shares our enthusiasm for My Life Me.”
