How should potential licensees evaluate which relationships to pursue and which to take a pass on? The International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) continues its 2010-2011 webinar series with “Should I Take This License or Not?” Rick Mallow, founder of Making Connections LLC, and Will Thompson, Vice President of Licensing at Changes Inc., will share criteria to consider and questions licensees should ask of themselves and of the licensor before deciding whether to take a license. The session will take place on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 from noon to 1:30 p.m. Eastern time. Rick Mallow is a 15-year veteran of the licensing industry. Prior to establishing Making Connections, a marketing consulting agency, he held positions at Elmer's Products, Inc, FAB/Starpoint, MeadWestvaco, Landoll Publishing and American Greetings. A member of the LIMA Board of Directors, Mallow has a wide range of licensee experience ranging from the school and children's craft segments to fashion accessories, home goods and publishing, and has done deals with a host of major entertainment companies and brand owners. Will Thompson is Vice President of Licensing at Changes Inc., an apparel manufacturer, who has done deals involving a wide range of video game brands, comic book, toy and entertainment properties. He also was instrumental in launching the Scarface Clothing Co. – a division based on the movie license, which has done more than $50 million at retail – and for licensing out Changes’ own brands. Will is responsible for all new licensing acquisitions and brings 17 years of experience to the table. He served on the LIMA Board of Directors from 2002 - 2005 and is Chairman of the LIMA Development Committee. Webinars are free to LIMA members and $99 for non-members.
