Shabby Chic! More than just interiors ...

Celebrities Entertainment - November 2010

Designer Rachel Ashwell not only invented the Shabby Chic style but also named it. In 1989 she started her own label "Shabby Chic" and opened her first shop in Santa Monica, California. Only five years later she launched her "Simply Shabby Chic" collection in cooperation with Target to the US market. Today, her collection includes about 200 SKUs from categories like beddings, furnishings, or stationery that are distributed online and through 1600 Target Stores worldwide.

"Shabby Chic!" promotes individual style, cosy familiarity and a versatile feminine way of living. The artful combination of classy new and mysterious old elements, vintage style and the beauty of imperfections creates a fascinating atmosphere: ruffles of muslin skirting a bed base, a pastel-coloured wardrobe in vintage style and a gorgeous chandelier catching the eye; or a kitchen in pure white with mismatched floral china decorating the table. It’s just these unusual combinations that make the difference for "Shabby Chic!".

In 2011 "Shabby Chic!" sees its exclusive release to a leading retail chain in Great Britain. “Shabby Chic!” products are distributed through more than 20 shop-in-shop systems. The initial collection consists of furnishings and decorative accessories for baths and living rooms.

Rachel publishes books to provide her invaluable and much-sought-after advice on how to re-create her style in your own home. What is more, she regularly appears in leading lifestyle magazines like ELLE, Cosmopolitan, Vogue, or InStyle. "Shabby Chic!" is more than interiors - it’s an attitude to life.
