Sony Pictures Television’s 2waytraffic International, today announced the launch of the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? 2011 game for iPhone and iPod Touch. The game, which will also be available as a HD version for iPad users, launches in App Stores in 70 countries from today, 9 December.

The first Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? iPhone game was released in December 2009. It topped the download charts in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. Subsequent successful local language versions include an Arabic version for the Middle East, in partnership with MBC; an Italian version in partnership with Mediaset, and a German version with RTL.
Ed Louwerse, managing director, 2waytraffic International, SPT, said: “This second instalment of the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? game is even better than our hugely popular 2009 release. Just as we strive to keep our TV brands fresh, we’re also always looking to update and invigorate the extensions of those brands beyond television.”
The new game features 500 new questions as an optional purchase - perfect for complete quiz addicts - plus a new Switch lifeline. Players can still call on the classic lifelines, Ask The Audience, 50:50 and Phone-A-Friend, to help climb their way up the money tree to the virtual million. The game is available for £1.79/€2.39 from the App Store on iPhone and iPod Touch or £2.99/3.99 for iPad. |
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? is one of the most successful game shows of all time, having sold in over 120 territories. The famous brand continues to be in demand from broadcasters, many of whom are buying the format to air in their markets for the very first time. 2010 saw Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? launch on Ecuavisa in Ecuador, on Canal Dos in El Salvador and in Sri Lanka on MTV Channel/Sirasa TV while a new version of the show launched on ITV1 in the UK for the very first time.
