The interactive and brand licensing division of Sony Pictures Television’s 2waytraffic has today announced the global game show brand Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? will soon be available as an educational tool to be licensed by schools in the UK for use in classrooms and by parents and school children at home.

An online facility of syllabus-relevant questions, Millionaire For Schools (www.millionaireforschools.co.uk) has been developed by award winning, educational IT and digital content development company Charanga, under license from 2waytraffic.

All the questions have been written by teachers and approved by an educational advisory board, which includes some of the UK's leading educators.

This is the first time 2waytraffic has issued a Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? license for educational purposes.

David Christopher, director of consumer products at 2waytraffic, said: Who Wants To Be a Millionaire? is an incredibly successful format - licensed to over 120 countries around the world. Millionaire For Schools is a fantastic way for students to have fun and learn at the same time. We’re delighted to be able to support such an innovative project and we’ll be looking to roll the concept out in other countries.”

Millionaire For Schools will enable school teachers to choose from hundreds of existing quizzes and questions covering a range of subjects and build quizzes of varying styles and lengths, quickly and efficiently.

Familiar features from the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? TV show, such as 50:50 and Ask the Audience are included, in addition to the show’s well known theme tune. Users can even print off a fun cheque for 1,000,000 points when they successfully complete a quiz.
Teachers are also able to give students and parents access to quizzes at home through school VLEs (Virtual Learning Environments) or by embedding the tool into their websites.

Millionaire For Schools will launch at BETT - the world’s largest technology-in-education trade event which takes place in London on January 12, 2011
